The vigorous vine of the Jasminum polyanthum can climb to a height of nearly 20 feet if supported. Because it grows quickly and produces abundant fragrant flowers, J. polyanthum is a popular house plant in the U.S. and Europe. It easily covers walls and fences when grown outdoors. It is semi-deciduous to evergreen in some climates.
J. polyanthum's sweet-smelling, five-petalled, star-like white flowers begin as pink buds.
This jasmine's habit of spreading rapidly and providing dense cover also qualifies it as an invasive species in some regions, such as in Australia and New Zealand where the vine has naturalized.
